Response is no surprise

EDITOR — Since the new government took office in May of this year, members of Devon Pensioners’ Action Forum have written letters to the Prime Minister and the heads of various government departments.

Thank you

Editor — May I through your newspaper thank the staff of Seaton Library for giving their time to read to five to 10-year-old children on two Tuesday mornings in August.

Decision over parking meters is short-sighted

EDITOR — I have found two advantages with age — I am now 51 — and they are life experience and the fear of complaining diminishes.

Open letter to planning

EDITOR — This is an open letter to the Head of Planning at EDDC.

A plea to all shed owners

EDITOR — This is a plea to all garage and shed owners.

Breathtaking arrogance

EDITOR I have been prompted to write on the matter of the proposed Tesco development in Seaton following the report in your paper of a statement by the company spokeswoman that concern about lorry movements and pedestrians are unfounded as there are already vehicles coming through the village.

Moving for a better recycling way of life

EDITOR My family and I moved to Feniton earlier this year.

Thanks for WI coverage

EDITOR On behalf of the Seaton group of Womens Institutes, which held a special lunch celebrating Devon Federations 90th birthday on June 29th at Colyford Memorial Hall, I would like to thank you for covering this event.

Peafowl are home safely

EDITOR As a result of your item by Tony Jackson on the two Peafowl I am pleased to report that they have now been re-united with their owners, who have a farm in the Ottery St Mary area.

Success for Charter Day

EDITOR There is little doubt that the Charter Day celebrations in Honiton were a huge success again this year.

Festival success goes without any incidents

EDITOR Axminster Beer, Music and Cider Festival was a phenomenal success due to record numbers, a superb band line up and fabulous weather.

How the cycling times have changed

EDITOR I enjoyed the buzz as the great cycle tour set off from Seaton recently but remembered how different things were when I rode a bike with the Poole Wheelers from 1950 to 1955.

Seafront is redecorated

EDITOR New decoration for Seaton seafront
This week we have seen the arrival of new decorations along Seaton front.

Please pick up dog poo

EDITOR Could the thoughtless person who walks through the Purzebrook public footpath please clean up after allowing its big dog to foul.

How many towns realise EDDC has money to spend?

EDITOR East Devon District Council (EDDC) collects money from developers on behalf of the towns and villages within the area which usually, though not always, is committed to play and recreation facilities.

I cannot believe what I read, says resident

EDITOR I really cannot believe what I am reading about the plans for Tesco in Seaton.

Not all change is for the best, as one library-goer finds out

EDITOR I would just like to say that I was shocked to find I didnt like the new Seaton Library layout.

Traffic plans to turn town into the next lanes

EDITOR With regard to the discussion of traffic and the proposed Sainsburys store in Ottery St Mary one possible solution is for the Sainsburys short-stay carpark to be at the west end of the site with the exit opening on to Canaan Way.

Lorry claims beyond belief

EDITOR It appears that the Tony Hayward Factor, the BP executive who has infuriated the Americans over the oil leak, has rubbed off on Julie Bishop, the Tesco corporate affairs manager, who has managed to equally infuriate the population of Axmouth.

Lost purse is returned

EDITOR I would like to say a very big thank you to the Good Samaritan who very kindly posted my lost purse through the Seaton Police Station letter box at some point on Tuesday, August 3rd.
