COLYTON: New group to promote and encourage local businesses

Thursday, 12 December 2013

A NEW group is being set up in Colyton to help promote and encourage businesses in the town.
Chris Way of the Colyton-based CRW Accountants said the formation of a business group in the town is a project he has been considering for some time.
He has now been joined in the venture by Phil Johnson, managing director of local training company PNS Ltd., and Jacquie McCullough, who purchased premises in Market Place with space for a tearoom and for Colyton History Society to form a new heritage centre. The first meeting of Colyton Business group will be held at the Colcombe Castle on Thursday, January 9th 2014 at 6pm, all are welcome.
Mr Way said: “The aim is to form a cohesive and active organisation to promote businesses in the locality and provide support and encouragement for businesses.
“It is beneficial to support local businesses as they can create the dynamic energy and focus which creates liveliness in an area.
“As an example, the Post Office having previously closed has, due to local pressure has now been set up in Mr and Mrs Patel's Colyton Premier Stores and this benefits local businesses and other users and it really is a case of use it or lose it.”
