HONITON: Hospital openings hours cut

Wednesday, 19 March 2014

Opening hours at Honiton Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) have been temporarily slashed.
The reduction came into effect on Monday, March 10th, and is blamed on a lack of staff.
The days affected are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays when the opening hours now are 10am to 6pm.
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays are not affected; their opening hours staying the same – 8am to 10pm.
Normal hours will resume on Monday, April 14th.
A spokesperson for Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust said: “The trust has been forced to reduce the opening hours due to staff vacancies, which are in the process of being filled.
“The change in opening hours has been supported by the Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group.
Kate Lyons, the trust’s director of operations, said: “We apologise for any disruption the temporary reduction in opening hours may cause.
“Reducing the hours will help us to provide a consistent service over the next five weeks.”
