COLYTON: Recorder player auditions for national orchestra
Thursday, 27 February 2014
A YEAR 11 student at Colyton Grammar School is to audition for the National Youth Recorder Orchestra Summer School.
Beanie Spaul, aged 15, has already been playing with the second orchestra for three years but is now eligible for the first orchestra, having passed her Grade 8 exam with distinction.
If accepted, participants study with professional tutors and conductors at the Easter and summer residential courses and at recorder days around the country, benefitting from tuition covering all aspects of technique and interpretation.
The National Youth Recorder Orchestra is promoted by the Society of Recorder Players, to demonstrate the highest quality of youth orchestral performance, and the summer schools end with a prestigious public performance.
Beanie said she was “very excited and quite confident about the outcome of her upcoming audition”.
