SEATON: Bumper season for RNLI fundraisers

Thursday, 27 February 2014

THE Seaton Beer and District Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has reported another outstanding year of fundraising – making it one of the best in the West Country.
Secretary Wendy Cummins will tell members at the annual meeting next week that sales from the RNLI kiosk at the Jubilee Gardens in Beer achieved £35,012 plus sales of £2,526 were achieved from events in the area.
“Our RNLI sales total has been averaging between £36,000 and £37,000 for the past few years,” said Mrs Cummins.
“The sales at the kiosk are excellent seeing as it is open only from the beginning of April to the end of October and approximately £2,500 of the sales figure is from the sales with our stall at events we attend in our area.
“Yes, we are one of the best branches.”
The Seaton Beer and District Branch of the RNLI covers a wide area and includes the East Devon villages of Axmouth, Musbury, Whitford, Colyton, Colyford and Branscombe.
The branch are always looking for additional volunteers to help members during the forthcoming season at the sales kiosk in the Jubilee Gardens from April to October on a rota basis with full or half days available.”

Mrs Cummins said anyone interested is welcome to attend the AGM in the Function Room of the Dolphin Hotel, Beer, on Tuesday, March 4th at 7.30pm.
“The first event that we are to attend with our stall is at the Grizfest on Saturday, March 8th at Seaton,” said Mrs Cummins.
“Then the following day we are manning, in conjunction with Beer Village Heritage, the Grizzly race drink station at Beer Head Caravan Site from 9am to 4pm and volunteers can join us at a time best for them to give out water to the runners and cheer them on their way.”
