AXMINSTER:Another fair to help the town’s job seekers

Friday, 21 February 2014

A job fair will return to Axminster by popular demand next month.
Organisers hope to bring together 25 or so employers and hundreds of jobseekers in Axminster Guildhall on Thursday March 27th.
Axminster Job Club decided to hold a job fair in Axminster following mass-redundancies at Axminster Carpets last spring.
The first fair was held on May 30th and proved to be a success, with 225 or so jobseekers and about 20 companies getting to know each other in the Guildhall.
Some employers were so overwhelmed by demand that staff had to use the town council photo copier to print extra leaflets on the spot.
An ambition to hold a second fair was immediately expressed by organisers, and is now set to become a reality.
The job fair on March 27th is supported by Axminster Town Council, Pulman’s View From Axminster, Job Centre Plus and Axminster Job Club.
Peter Porteous of Axminster Job Club said: "As last year, the Guildhall is generously given free by the town council. The event will be free to both the public and employers and an opportunity for the latter to advertise their products or services.
"Why not come and meet employers recruiting locally?"
The job fair will run from 10am-2.30pm, and companies interested in attending should contact Dave Clark at Job Centre Plus in Honiton on 01404 403214, 07795 052680 or dave.clark2@dwp.gsi.gov.uk
