COLYTON: Gerrard Arms donates £100 to history society
Thursday, 21 August 2014
KAZ and David Randall, proprietors of The Gerrard Arms in Colyton, this week presented £100 to Colyton Parish History Society. The cheque was handed over to Jasmine List outside the Colyton Heritage Centre in Market Place. The donation represented the proceeds of the successful annual cider tasting festival held at the pub on Saturday, August 9th and was in recognition of the help Jasmine and other members of the society provided in helping to organise and welcome people to the event. Seventeen home-brewed ciders were offered for tasting and music was provided by Hobby Horse. The event was attended by over 150 people. Emma Stapleford from Hawkchurch took first prize for her cider with Dom Harman, also from Hawkchurch, and George Hawkins, from Branscombe, coming second and third. Mr Randall said: “Kaz and I are very happy to make this donation to Jasmine in support of the Colyton Parish History Society. “We would especially like to thank all the cider providers for their contributions. Without them, this event would not have been possible. The festival was a great success and we look forward to its continuing success next year.”
