AXMINSTER: Police alert over bogus photos

Friday, 07 February 2014

Axminster police have asked residents to be on their guard if asked to buy photos from a man claiming to work for the Environment Agency.
The alert was issued after PCSO Andrew Trott received a report from a concerned member of the public about a man trying to sell photos of the Axminster area at £35 each.
A police spokesperson said: “Checks have been done with the Environment Agency, who have confirmed they do not have anyone in the area selling items.
“The man was described as being around 5ft 9” tall in his 40s wearing a flat cap and dark clothing with black shoes. Any reports of this man being in your area can be reported via our 101 number, quoting log 286 of January 21st.
“Residents are asked to exercise caution when answering the door to cold callers, ask for identification, close your door and phone the number on any identification given to confirm the cold caller’s ID.
“If you have cold callers and are dubious as to their authenticity, please call Devon and Cornwall Police on 101.”
