HONITON: Kids to vote on skate park facelift
Wednesday, 18 December 2013
East Devon District Council (EDDC) and the young people from Honiton Youth Centre and Honiton Community College have been working together to design £90,000 of improvements to Honiton skate park in Allhallows Field.
The £90,000 has come from the council’s main budget and is being spent on Honiton skate park as it was judged to be the most in need of improvements in the district with many of the ramps at the very end of their life. The improvements have been requested by skate park users.
Now, EDDC want local people who use or might use the skate park to decide how it should look by voting for the design they like best.
Representatives are going to Honiton Youth Centre and the college today (Tuesday, December 17th) to gather in their votes.
You will be able to see all four proposed designs and vote on which one you want to see installed.
The design that gets the most votes will be delivered, so go along and have your say!
Earlier in the year EDDC worked with Honiton Community College and Honiton Youth Centre to find out what kind of improvements the young people would spend the money on.
They said they wanted pre-cast concrete equipment, a large half pipe facing the other way to what it does now, a quarter pipe linked well to the half pipe, a grind rail and a spine.
The young people’s specifications were sent off to several skate park companies who have all come back to EDDC with their interpretations of what the young people asked for.
The skate park users now get to vote on which one of the designs they want in stalled.
