AXMINSTER: Annabel wins place in final
Thursday, 05 December 2013
Axminster girl Annabel Davies has qualified for the Grand Final of the Open Mic UK (U16 category) following a rendition of Titanium, by David Guetta, at the NEC in Birmingham
Woodroffe student Annabel, 12, took to the stage last after her 26 rivals had had their opportunities to shine and her performance was met with thunderous applause.
Her mother Sue said: “She had travelled up to Birmingham’s NEC in a bus with her fans.
“A couple were so keen that despite missing the bus, they got their dad to drive them there from Exmouth.
“Annabel has been performing around the area all summer and autumn; frequently appearing at the many local open-mic sessions and various events including Guitars on the Beach and the Lyme Regis Folk Festival. The Grand Final was to have been at London’s O2 Arena but is now scheduled to take place at the NEC on the January 18th.
“Anneli and Craig Davies (no relation) from Big Red Youth Theatre in Ottery, said it was fantastic to see one of their long-term students having great success.
They both added: “In every performance she has shown what an amazing singing talent she is.
“We are hoping all of the students will be on the coach to the final to support Annabel. We are very proud.”
Open Mic UK 2013 is a music competition searching for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material.
