Thursday, 05 December 2013
A fancy dress fundraiser in Honiton raised almost £300 for the Movember campaign.

Men are encouraged to grow a moustache during November andget involved with fundraising events.
Women are also asked to help raise funds and in Honiton a fundraising team called Dicksie’s Dynamos has been set up.
The team is named after Tony ‘Dicksie’ Dimond, who is battling prostate cancer, and a fundraising event staged in conjunction with Honiton RFC, was held on November 23rd.
Tony’s daughter Amy Dimond explained that the event was a surprise do for her dad, and she added: “We raised £270 on the night, which means our running total to date is £525.
“As part of the event, we appealed locally for prizes for our raffle and have been overwhelmed by the support of the Honiton community and businesses; they have been very generous.”
Ben Small won the best costume competition, Jerry Rice sported the best moustache and the best combo (costume/moustache) category was won by James Coutts.
Amy specifically praised Honiton Golf Club, Combe House, Otter Brewery, Beauchamp Place, Wine World, Honiton Sports, Devon Fishcakes, staff at Honiton Community College, C H Bakers and Sons, Alan Rowe Barbers for their support.
