SEATON:Twin town visit for youth football team
Thursday, 17 October 2013
Seaton Town Youth Football Club is taking two teams to France over Whitsun next year to play football against Seaton’s twin town of Thury Harcourt.
Organisers believe this is a great opportunity to get the town’s young people involved in twinning, to continue raising the profile of Seaton Town Youth FC in the area, and good team-building exercise.
Paul Grint, chairman of Seaton Youth Football, said: “Initiatives such as this and applying for Charter Standard status all help to reinforce the progress being made with our youth football.
“We now have six teams aged between eight and 15 playing in youth leagues. In addition there is a training group for six and seven year-olds.
“Our objective is to create the right environment for our children to learn and enjoy their football with the club so that they stay on and hopefully come to represent the club at senior level. Over the next six months the club will be raising funds to enable the trip to proceed.
“We hope to raise the necessary funds through a mixture of sponsorship and fundraising.”
Sponsors will get recognition through various media including the club’s programme and web site and through the local press.
“We hope to get the town behind us and create a real momentum for such a positive initiative,” added Mr Grint.
