EAST DEVON:New faces at Lyme Bay Winery

Tuesday, 12 August 2014

LYME Bay Winery has made two senior appointments in brand new roles to support ambitious growth plans. The Shute-based company has brought in Roger Barrey as head of sales. Roger has 25 years of experience in the drinks industry and has specialised in building international distribution, sales and volume for large drinks brands including Stella Artois and Coca Cola. His background makes him ideally suited to help the winery achieve its goal of doubling turnover within the next five years. Mr Barrey said: “Lyme Bay Winery is already a very successful business with huge potential, so I am thrilled to join the team to head up the growth in sales that we plan to achieve – it’s going to be challenging but hugely rewarding and I’m already thoroughly enjoying it.” Lyme Bay Winery was established in 1994 and founder and owner Nigel Howard added: “We are delighted to welcome Roger, who is a well-known name in the industry, on board during this very exciting time for Lyme Bay Winery. “We are confident that he will help us accelerate the growth we are enjoying and enable us to deliver the exciting plans we have.” Michael Heighway has also been brought in as quality manager, using his background in biochemistry. Michael said: “I have always loved the drinks which Lyme Bay produces – particularly the mead – so I know first-hand that the products are of exceptional quality. "I plan to use my expertise to ensure exceptional levels of quality are maintained across the business which will directly support our plans to grow bigger and better in the coming years.” General manager James Lambert explained: “Michael brings us a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge which will help us realise our potential over the next few years – especially to establish mead as a mainstream drink and increase our share of the growing cider market.”
