AXMINSTER: Beer Festival makes £8,300 for the TIC
Tuesday, 08 July 2014
Axminster Beer, Cider and Music Festival smashed its target by some margin. The festival is held to raise money for the town’s tourist information, and organisers had hoped to make up to £7,000 this year. This year’s festival was held on Saturday, June 28th and co-organiser Claire Morgan said the overall profit was £9,300. One thousand pounds will be given to The Rotary Club of Axminster, as a thank you for helping to run the festival, to distribute to its chosen causes. The rest will be put towards the running of Axminster Tourist Information Centre. Mrs Morgan confirmed the attendance figure as 1,500, which is a record. She noted several mini-buses with people from places like Chard and Honiton and other towns, which she hasn’t seen in previous years. Already looking forward to next year’s event, she said: “Again, a big thank you to everyone who supported the festival in various ways, including our volunteers. “Next year we are looking forward to the added attraction of a mystery box auction with Graham Barton and Scott Gray.”
