SEATON:Seaton footballers back from France
Thursday, 03 July 2014
Seaton Town Youth FC’s long awaited trip to their twinning counterparts at Thury-Harcourt FC in France in May was a resounding success. With the U12s and U14s playing games against the French teams, then two mixed games of French and English teams, the football side of the trip was both entertaining and good fun. The visit to the historic Pegasus Bridge, scene of the initial D-Day landings, provided an educational element to the trip. As an introduction to the concept of Twinning it was again very successful, with the children meeting the mayor and local dignitaries, and also members of the Thury-Harcourt Twinning Association. As a bonding exercise for the club's footballers we hope that they will all carry the sense of teamwork into next season and beyond. Seaton have invited the French teams back to England and hope to make this a regular fixture in the football and twinning calendar. The club could not have made this happen without the support of many people and organisations and would like to thank: Paperchain card shop, GW Meats , All Sorts shop, Boots, Flowerpower Aromatherapy, Jimmy Greens, Co-op Honiton, Lyme Bay Law, Trotters Cafe, East Devon Sports Therapy, Amore Italian Restaurant, View From Publishing, Seaton Town Council, Seaton & District Lions, Millers Farm Shop of Kilmington, Seaton Rotary Club, Beviss and Beckingsale, Seaton Town FC, The Gateway, Steve's Print and Design, Complete Meats of Axminster, Sewards Coaches of Dal- wood, The Old Inn, of Kilmington, Kevin Oliphant Builders, Tesco, View From Newspapers, Seaton & District Twinning Association, Creative Solutions of Axminster and Hilary Sharp Acupuncture.
