SIDMOUTH:Lending a helping hand

Thursday, 12 June 2014

The Donkey Sanctuary welcomed a team of helpers from the University of Exeter to lend a hand with various tasks in celebration of National Volunteers Week. The group from the university’s accommodation office helped tame bracken at the Sidmouth sanctuary to restore species-rich grassland, before getting stuck in with other site management tasks. The visit was one of many opportunities for the charity to engage with local organisations in its environmental management programme, animal welfare scheme and visitor education work. The Donkey Sanctuary team at its Sidmouth headquarters also celebrated volunteers’ efforts with a tea party and skittles match.
