HONITON: Investment boost for Deer Park

Friday, 17 January 2014

The Deer Park, one of East Devon’s iconic country house hotels, is to continue its rejuvenation this year, following more than £500,000 worth of investment in 2013.
Work will get underway this month on the refurbishment of the hotel’s Mews Rooms, with additional improvements to be made to the main house and grounds.
The Deer Park, recently awarded Silver at the Devon Tourism Awards, benefited from substantial investment last year, with the construction of a landscaped Italian garden and fountains, a resurfaced driveway and refurbishment to the restaurant and conservatory – and more changes are in the pipeline.
Managing director, Mark Godfrey, said: “We have had an unbelievable 2013 here at the Deer Park and we are so thrilled to announce that we will be continuing to invest in this beautiful country house hotel. Our aim is to be one of the leading hotel and wedding venues in the South West, so all of these fabulous additions will certainly help us achieve that goal - along with the dedication and passion of our top-notch team.”
The Deer Park’s plan also involves hosting a range of courses in the hotel’s grounds, with apple tree pruning, falconry, cooking and beekeeping on the agenda for later in the year.
The hotel, which has taken on ten new staff including three apprentices in the last year, is also striving to support the local community by continuing its sponsorship of Honiton Cricket Club and other organisations.
