SEATON: Puffins’ fundraiser cooks up more than £1,200

Friday, 17 January 2014

PUFFINS at Beer Pre-School served up a winning formula at the weekend to raise £601 from their Breakfast Bonanza.
Around 100 breakfasts were served at Bay View tea rooms in Beer on Saturday and the total raised was boosted to a tasty £1,202 by Barclays, which supports employee fundraising and matches money raised pound for pound up to £750 as part of its Community Investment programme.
Matthew Bond, Area Manager from Barclays, said: “We’re delighted with the amount raised and would like to thank those that helped and supported the Beer Puffins Breakfast Bonanza to make this happen.
“We really wanted to support Puffins at Beer Pre-School as they provide an excellent setting, supporting local children with their early years education.
“Barclays has a fantastic community investment programme that encourage employees to get involved in the charities and causes that are important to them.
“It’s about giving back our skills, time and energy to support our local communities – so we’re thrilled to have helped raise £1,202 to help Beer Puffins.”
Anna Vine, Beer Puffins chairman, said: “We are very grateful to Barclays for their support, and special thanks to Nikki Oswald for offering to host the breakfast bonanza at Bay View in Beer, serving over 100 breakfasts on the day.
“Thanks also to Tesco for contributing some of the ingredients.
“It was great to see so many from the local community supporting the event and we hope everyone had a very enjoyable breakfast.
“We have retained the menus and other materials and will be involving the children by using these to create a café themed role play area, and may even walk to Bay View with the children on one of our upcoming ‘out and about’ days too.”
