SEATON: All set for the Party in the Park

Thursday, 05 June 2014

Organisers say Seaton’s Party in the Park will be ‘bigger and better’ on Sunday, June 8th. Hosted by Christians Together in Seaton, and free to attend, the event will be based at and around the Underfleet recreational ground from 2pm-6pm. The skate, scooter and BMX jam has ‘the biggest prize fund yet’ and will be overseen by experienced event director and Exeter-based The Boarding House owner Tim Ruck. Mr Ruck said: “We’re very excited to be involved in this great event, and are looking forward to a great competition with some awesome prizes. “Entry to the comp is on the day from 1.30pm and there will be events for all ages.” The Reverend Simon d’Albertanson added: “Also bigger this year is the stage, with several local bands performing throughout the afternoon. “On the opposite side of the field will be our six-element bouncy castle village including sumo suits, an assault course and a kids' soft play.” A surplus of of baked beans has necessitated the staging of an exchange programme. Foodbank in Seaton chairman Hugh Rose explained: “We’re so grateful for all the donations of food we receive, but at the moment we have loads of baked beans but are short of tinned meat, pasta sauces and UHT milk, so if people want to bring those items we’d be happy to swap them on the day for cans of baked beans to the same value.” Favourites from last year will return, including the Royal British Legion, Rock Solid’s Strawberry Bootlace, After Eight Time Trials and Polly Anderson and her team from East Devon District Council with circus skills. A range of craft, plant and cake stalls will also be trading at around 5pm. The event will conclude with a special Songs of Praise event including live music – come and join in the fun. The Reverend d’Albertanson concluded: “We are grateful for the generous support of Axe Valley Runners, SOS Scaffolding Honiton, Seaton Town Council and Seaton Town Development Team for making this event possible.”
