SIDMOUTH: Scarecrow fun
Tuesday, 27 May 2014
Sid Valley Rotary Club is inviting Sidmouth residents to design and make their own scarecrows for a display as part of its annual summer fayre. The fayre, to be held on Saturday, July 26th, will feature a range of entertainments, with performances by the Sidmouth Town Band along with a variety of games, stalls and exhibitions. And a display of scarecrows will also be staged on the showground during the day. Designers are encouraged to bring their scarecrows to Blackmore Gardens between 10am and 11pm to check in at the Rotary Club’s reception tent, where they will be given a number and a location on the showground. Judging will take place during the morning and prizes will be awarded at 1pm in the Village Green area. A spokesperson for the Rotary Club said: “It sounds a long time ahead but to win a prize you need to think what the fashion conscious scarecrows are wearing these days. “There will be a lot to do while you are waiting for the judging, with lots of games, stalls and fun going on – but don't forget to make a start on your scarecrow.”
