SPARE CHANGE: The Beavers about to handover their coins
Jose and Leonard Beavers in Honiton have raised £18 for Devon Freewheelers. Based in Honiton, Devon Freewheelers is a volunteer courier service for the NHS. The youngsters raised the money by collecting two-pence coins as part of a task in connection with Commonwealth Games Challenge, organised by Scottish Scouts. Helen Turner of 1st Honiton Scout Group said: “We have had lots of different challenges to do which will give us points on the medal table. One of the challenges was to get the Beavers to bring in two-pence coins so that we could make a track with them. “We laid them all out around our hall and then transferred them to our model of the stadium. The youngsters had great delight in handing over all the two-pence coins, which we had bagged up.” Helen added: “We are holding our annual general meeting on Thursday, June 26th, starting at 7:30pm in the Scout Hall in Dowell Street. “Also, we are still looking for new adults who would like to become assistant leaders with any of the sections.”
