AXMINSTER: Councillor stands down

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

Axminster town councillors have praised a former colleague for his dedication over a 20-year period. When Axminster Town Council met on Monday May 12th, it was announced that Chris Scott had resigned the week before. It was reported that Mr Scott is moving to Somerset, and mayor Jeremy Walden said: “We owe a great debt of gratitude to councillor Scott and we wish him well in his move.” Mr Scott, who chaired the town council planning committee, was not present at the meeting. A new chairman will be appointed by the committee in due course. The town council has informed the returning officer at East Devon District Council. If 10 electors come forward to demand a by-election, one will be held. If not, Axminster Town Council will seek candidates for co-option.
