COLYTON: First birthday for community cafe

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

COMMUNITY CAFÉ CELEBRATES: The volunteer run café in the Sunday school building of Colyton Church has been serving coffee and cake to the town for a year. As part of its first anniversary celebrations, a special birthday cake was made along with other homemade treats with help from baker Sarah Bishop (right). Sarah Johnson (also pictured), who started the café, said: “It has really grown during the year. In the beginning we would attract about half a dozen people and now it is around 20 to 30 people.” The café is open every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am and alongside serving Fair Trade tea, coffee and cake, they also sell fresh produce. In addition, the café has organised two afternoon events from 3.30pm to 5pm on June 6th and July 4th for children and parents to come to afterschool but it is open to everyone.
