AXMINSTER: Carols around the tree

Tuesday, 02 December 2014

It is a Christmas tradition for Axminster Churches Together to sing carols on Minster Green on the second Thursday of December, accompanied by musicians of the Salvation Army.
This year is no exception, so singing will commence at 10am on Thursday, December 11th, albeit with a different set-up.
Anne Double of Axminster Churches Together said: “It is one of the busiest days of the year at Axminster Market and the familiar carols add the spirit of Christmas to the bustling market scene. But this year there was bad news – the musicians of Ottery St Mary Salvation Army Band had decided it was time to hang up their instruments and retire. Fortunately all was not lost – local band Saxminster stepped into the breach and we are delighted to say that they will be sending singers and musicians to make the event bigger than ever.”
Everyone is welcome to come along and join in singing around the tree on the Minster Green on Thursday, December 11th from 10am–11am.
