HONITON: New status for primary school

Thursday, 15 May 2014

HUB?OF?ACTIVITY | Staff and pupils at Honiton Primary School celebrated the official recognition of the school’s Foundation Unit this week, with a special ‘badging’ ceremony attended by the chairman of Devon County Council Bernard Hughes OBE. Councillor Hughes presented a plaque to Assistant Principal and Foundation Unit Leader Greg Bottrill on Thursday (May 8th) to mark the occasion, before taking a tour of the facility. The Foundation Unit provides teaching for pupils aged three to five, and helps to integrate children into the school from an early age. Councillor Hughes, a former teacher himself, said: “More and more schools are achieving this standard and I know how much work goes into it. Children gradually come into school and develop their learning and it is amazing to see – the whole school is a hub of activity. The unit will set Honiton Primary School in really good stead for the future.”
