AXMINSTER: Dance group appears in London

Tuesday, 06 May 2014

Axminster based Skye Dance took a troupe of 40 dancers to London to perform at Saddler’s Wells Dance House in London during Easter. The talented dancers were aged six to 19 years and took part in a show with other dance schools. Skye Dance prinicipal Niclaire Skye said: “This amazing opportunity was provided by Mardi Gras, the show producers, who each year invite dance schools across the country to perform at top London theatres. “It was a great success with the show presenter asking for an encore after we opened the second half with Emeli Sandé’s Read All About It.” Niclaire, assisted by Sara Leat, used her professional experience to combine both jazz and ballet together with a bit of hip-hop funk thrown in as well to create not one but two masterpieces for this showcase. She added: “The challenge of incorporating all dancers at such a diverse age range was not easy and it required dedication from each and every dancer to ensure a final performance worthy of such a world famous venue. “Axminster Arts provided sponsorship of £250 towards the cost of travelling to London and Skye Dance are really grateful to them and Seawards Coaches for all their help in enabling the students to be a part of this amazing opportunity.” Those taking part were: Amber Coombes, Anna Tresserra, Annabel Micklethwaite, Anthony Duncan, Ben Seward, Clara Douglas, Emily Grabham, Emily Margetts, Emma Vernon, Esme Huntley, Ewan Roy, Fern Houlihan, Freya Brookes, Freya Lane, Freya McDill, Freya Morgan, Hannah Miller, Hannah Rugg, Imogen Dower, India Foster, Jasmine McAuley, Jessica Barrett, Jessica Leat, Jessica McAuley, Katy Roy, Keziah Foster, Lola Evans, Lucie Bebbington, Mae Knight, Martha Joyce, Masie Bellworthy, Matilda Leat, Mia Huntley, Natasha Dower, Robin Seward, Rose Joyce, Sophie Vernon, Tamsin Harvey, Willow Cockram-Hawkins, Willow Vincent.
