HONITON: Two injured in High Street crash

Thursday, 10 April 2014

Two people were taken to hospital after a collision involving four vehicles in High Street on Wednesday (April 2nd).
Police and ambulance teams were called to the scene outside Pottery Close just before 3pm on Wednesday, following reports of a collision between three cars and a mini-bus.
Soon after their arrival, at around 3:20pm, the ambulance team called in fire crews to help free a woman who was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “One woman was trapped inside her vehicle and had suffered head injuries during the collision.
“Fire crews used specialist hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools to remove her.
“Ambulance teams already on the scene then placed her on a spinal board and took the woman to the RD&E in Exeter to receive treatment.”
A man was also being treated for a back injury at the hospital following the incident.
Police reported that both casualties were conscious and breathing and their injuries were not regarded as serious.
Police diverted traffic away from High Street while emergency crews managed the incident and the road was cleared and reopened at around 5:30pm.
