AXMINSTER: Inspiration for young artists

Thursday, 03 April 2014

Students on Axe Valley Community College's Arts ASPIRE programme have been gaining inspiration local artist Amanda Popham.
The young artists from years five to eight spent a day with Amanda learning the techniques used to work and mould clay into jugs.
College spokesperson Liz Slade said: "Some of the students had never worked with clay before and learnt very quickly how to master the art of using water and moulding with your fingers to produce a smooth and professional finish on the sculptures.
"Once the pieces are fired and dried they will be ready for the painting workshop after Easter."
The upper school artists on the ASPIRE Arts will be working with another local artist, Ricky Romain, on oil paintings, before the Easter holidays.
Some of the participants are pictured with their finished works of art.
