SIDMOUTH: Boost for organ restoration fund

Thursday, 27 March 2014

The ongoing drive to raise funds for the restoration of the organ in the Sidholme Hotel was given a boost last week, after an afternoon of hymn singing entitled “Sing Something Sankey” took place in the Sidholme’s Music Room on Thursday, March 20th.
“It was very, very popular,” said organiser John MacGregor. “We even had some people sitting on the stairs!”
On stage there was a choir made up from local district churches and everyone was encouraged to join in with all the old favourites. The audience were also treated to solo performances by Joan Edgecumbe and John Brindley.
The free performance ended with a collection for the Sidholme Organ Restoration Fund, meaning that generous donations added £366 to the fund's total.
The next fundraising event will be a performance by Colyton Grammar School’s Young Musicians. They will be at the Sidholme Hotel on Wednesday, April 2nd at 7.30pm.
