There are plans to set up a group for adults struggling to read who live in and around Axminster and Seaton.
One of those involved is Sheila Abdy, who said: “Read Easy UK is a registered charity that enables people to set up new Read Easy groups in their own areas.
“We already have readers and coaches in the Axminster/Seaton area attached to the Bridport group, but feel it is now time to set up a group locally.
“We need volunteers to help set up and run a group and/or to become reading coaches; local businesses and organisations willing to offer space free of charge for reading sessions; local funding bodies, businesses and individuals who might be interested in helping to fund the group or sponsor individual new readers.”
Read Easy works through community-based groups to train and support volunteers to give one-to-one reading tuition to adults who struggle with reading.
Sheila added: “Many people with reading difficulties are far too embarrassed to seek help if it means joining a class, so Read Easy offers an alternative which is free, friendly, flexible and fun.
“If you would be interested in supporting a group in your area in any of the above ways, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.”
